“It’s Just Sick”: President Joe Biden on the tragedy in Nashville

Published Date:

On Monday (local time), US President Joe Biden called the Nashville school shooting, which left six people dead, “sick.” He also emphasised that the US needs to take action against gun violence because “it’s ripping the spirit of our country.”

Following the murder of six individuals at Nashville’s Covenant School, including three children, Biden made these comments.

Also, he urged Congress to approve a law banning assault weapons and mentioned that the Nashville shooter reportedly owned two assault rifles and a pistol.

It’s absolutely disgusting, Biden stated while speaking at the Small Business Administration Women’s Business Conference. We’re still compiling the details of what occurred and why, you know.

And we are aware that, as of right now, a number of people—including children—are not going to make it. And it is tragic. The worst nightmare for a family.”

The US President praised the police for acting quickly to put an end to the danger. He stated: “Ben, you already know that we’re keeping a close eye on the situation and that more needs to be done to stop gun violence. Our communities are being torn apart, and it is tearing this country’s core spirit apart. In order to prevent our schools from becoming prisons, we must take additional security measures.”

Biden stated: “According to reports, the shooter in this incident also possessed an AK-47, a pistol, and two assault rifles.

Hence, I once more request that Congress pass my assault weapons ban. It’s past time for us to start moving forward again.

According to Metropolitan Nashville Police Director John Drake, Audrey Hale has been identified as the shooter who killed six people on Monday at Covenant School in Nashville. Hale, who resides in Nashville, is 28 years old, according to Drake.

According to a tweet from the Metro Nashville Police Department, the six victims included three youngsters who were all 9 years old.

Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all 9 years old, Cynthia Peak, 61 years old, Katherine Koonce, 60 years old, and Mike Hill, 61 years old, are the six victims fatally shot by the active shooter at Covenant School, according to a tweet from the Metro Nashville Police Department.

According to Metro Nashville Police Director John Drake, the shooter had created intricate blueprints of Covenant School. According to Drake, the shooting suspect on Monday had three guns on him.

Drake added that the shooter shot through one of the doors to enter the school. According to preliminary police findings, the shooter had previously attended the school, CNN reported.

CNN cited John Drake as saying, “Furthermore, we’ve found that detailed maps of the school that included information on surveillance, entry points, etc. were created. We are aware of their exact method of entrance into the school, which was shooting through one of the doors.”
