US President Joe Biden Monday pressed for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. This comes amid the ongoing tensions between the two.

Lately, Israeli airstrikes had also bombed a Gaza building that housed some news organizations.

Joe Biden is now facing pressure from lawmakers to play a more vocal role. But it seems that the U.S. officials and his team are rather opting for a quieter effort.

US President also spoke with Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu over the same. As per White House, Joe Biden encouraged Israel to make every effort to ensure the protection of innocent civilians.

Moreover, the two leaders discussed progress in Israel’s military operations against Hamas and other terrorist groups in Gaza.

Several senators issuing a statement this Sunday called for an immediate ceasefire to prevent any further escalation of conflict.

Also, the Biden administration is relying more on Egypt because of its influence with Hamas.

Amid all this, Biden has strongly defended Israel’s right to defend itself.

But the administration does not support Israel’s destruction of a Gaza high-rise though.
