US President Joe Biden has invited India along with other 110 countries to a virtual summit on democracy.

The December summit will see major Western allies including Iraq, India and Pakistan also. This comes as per a list posted on the State Department website on Tuesday.

However, China is not invited, but Taiwan is. Turkey too is missing from the list of participants.

The traditional Arab allies of the US including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar and the UAE are also not invited.

Joe Biden had invited Brazil. From Europe, Poland was invited to the summit despite persistent tension with the EU over its human rights record.

Hungary too led by hardline nationalist PM Viktor Orban, was not invited.

In Africa too, the DRC, South Africa, Nigeria and Niger are among the countries on the list.

The summit was announced back in August. As per the White House, the meeting would galvanize commitments and initiatives across three principal themes: defending against authoritarianism, fighting corruption, and promoting respect for human rights.

Earlier, U.S. President Biden had asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to act against groups conducting ransomware attacks from Russia as per the White House.
