Lebanon Rocked by Serial Blasts: Wireless Radio Sets Explode After Pager Explosions, Many Injured

Lebanon has once again been shaken by a series of explosions, just a day after the devastating pager blasts that injured thousands. This time, the explosions occurred in wireless communication devices, specifically handheld radio sets. Several people have been injured and hospitalized for treatment.

According to security sources, these wireless radio sets, used by Hezbollah fighters, exploded in Lebanon’s southern regions and the southern suburbs of the capital, Beirut. One of the blasts even occurred during a funeral for those killed in the previous pager explosions.

Hezbollah had reportedly purchased these communication devices, like the pagers, around five months ago. Senior Hezbollah official Hashem Safieddine acknowledged that the group is facing tough times but vowed that retaliation would follow.

The recent blasts come on the heels of Tuesday's tragic events, where hundreds of pagers exploded across Lebanon and Syria, killing 12 people and injuring over 4,000. Hezbollah has accused Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad of orchestrating the attacks, promising vengeance. The pager explosions primarily targeted areas in Beirut, including Dahieh, Beqaa, Nabatieh, and Bint Jbeil, as well as southern Lebanon. In Syria, nearly 100 blasts were reported, adding to the chaos.

Among the victims of the pager blasts was the son of Hezbollah MP Ali Ammar. Iran's ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, also sustained serious injuries, including severe damage to one of his eyes.

This string of explosions has further heightened tensions in the region, with Hezbollah warning of retaliation for the attacks, which have left Lebanon in a state of shock and fear.
