Schools have become a preferred target of armed groups in Northern Nigeria. Whenever they need money, they abduct school students for ransom.
An armed group had abducted many people including 27 students, 3 staff, and 12 members of their families from Government Science Secondary School in Kagara district under Niger state on February 17, 2021.
According to the sources, the boys were spotted after their release. While some of them were struggling to stand, others seemed to ask for water.
This release comes a day after the abduction of 317 girls from a school in Zamfara State.
“These ones…are already after ransom, so I know and believe that the government settles with them, they will be able to release our daughters,” Lawal Muhammed, one of those who were released by the unknown armed group, said.
