In an attack on their truck on Monday in southwest Pakistan, a suicide bomber killed nine police officers, according to officials.
Senior police official Abdul Hai Aamir told AFP that the suicide bomber was riding a motorcycle when he struck the truck from behind.
The incident happened in Balochistan’s Dhadar, the largest city in the Kachhi district, around 120 kilometres southeast of Quetta. The incident resulted in at least 16 injuries.
Police were leaving a week-long cattle exhibition where they had been providing security, according to Mehmood Notezai, police chief for the Kachhi area, who spoke to AFP.
Baluch separatists and local militants have been held accountable for similar acts in the past, despite the fact that no organisation has claimed responsibility for the bombing.
