Russian President Vladimir Putin refused to recognise the victory of Joe Biden in the 2020 US Presidential Polls.
“We will work with anyone who has the confidence of the American people,” Putin said on Russian state TV Sunday.
“But that confidence can only be given to a candidate whose victory has been recognized by the opposing party, or after the results are confirmed in a legitimate, legal way,” he added.
He also described the Kremlin’s decision not to congratulate US President-elect Joe Biden “formality” with no ulterior goals. When asked if this could damage the US-Russia relationship, he said, “there is nothing to damage, they’re already ruined.”
