Russia promises to scale down military operations in Ukraine, West calls it “misleading”

Published Date:

It is a moment of skepticism for all as Russia promised to scale down military invasion in Kyiv of Ukraine. In the ongoing negotiations, Moscow had promised to bring down the military operations around Kyiv and another city.

It has been more than a month since Russia launched invasion of Ukraine.

However, the invasion was met with equal resistance on most fronts from the Ukrainian forces.

Many of the territories earlier captured by Russia have been recaptured now.

But many of the civilians remain trapped in besieged cities of Ukraine. Russia has been reiterating on providing humanitarian aid to all the civilians.

As per the Pentagon, Russia is moving very small numbers of troops away from positions around Kyiv to reposition rather than a retreat.

Moscow points out that in order to increase mutual trust and achieving the ultimate goal of agreeing and signing (an) agreement, this decision was made; Russia now aims to radically reduce military activity in the Kyiv and Chernihiv directions.

So far, no other areas were mentioned. There has been a lot of heavy fighting around Mariupol in the southeast, Sumy and Kharkiv, Kherson and Mykolaiv in the south.

“Ukrainians are not naive people,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday. Ukraine sees Russia’s promise to curtail military operations in some areas as misleading.

On the contrary, Russian military accuses Ukrainian forces in cities of using ceasefires to restore their combat readiness.

Moscow terms it as a “special operation” to disarm and “denazify” Ukraine.
