Russia targeting Europe through gas war, Zelenskyy

Published Date:

Ukraine accused Russia of waging a ‘gas war’ against Europe. It has cut supplies to inflict terror on people.

Gazprom, the Russian energy giant announced to reduce gas flows into Germany to allow work on a turbine on the Nord Stream 1 pipeline.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky called this a “gas blackmail” against Europe. Notably, the Nord Stream 1 pipeline has been running well below capacity for a long time.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday declared the advancement of his forces into the occupied southern region of Kherson.

As the war in Ukraine began, Kherson city fell to Russia. Its strategic location west of the Dnipro river makes it an easy catch.

This week, the UK defence officials reported heavy fighting near Kherson.

This Ukrainian advance means Russian supply lines over these areas are at an increased risk of damage.

The forces of Kyiv have been targeting river crossings in this region to stretch Russia’s supply lines.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is now eyeing the support of the Middle East. Several African nations have been badly affected by grain shortages caused by Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Did you know Ukraine stands as the world’s fourth-largest grain exporter?

Due to the ongoing war, wheat exports from Russia have been down.

However, a deal is reached to allow cargo ships to take grain from the ports in Ukraine to other parts of the world.

Ever since Russia put a blockade food price have skyrocketed.

This comes as Russia counters international anger over the lives lost in the Ukraine war.

Mr Lavrov also held crucial talks in the Egyptian capital with his counterpart, Sameh Shoukry.

Russia enjoys good ties with Egypt which supplies wheat and weapons.
