As Russian troops aim at eastern Ukraine, the city of Mariupol may fall to the enemy. Ukrainian defense forces attempted desperately to hold it back.
What Russia is trying is to connect occupied Crimea with Donetsk and Lugansk in Donbas.
The Russian defence ministry stressed it thwarted an attempt to break the siege with “airstrikes and artillery fire” in a northern district of the city.
But Ukraine, on the other hand, reiterated that “the defence of Mariupol continues”. Meanwhile, Britain is also trying to verify reports that suggest Russia has used chemical weapons also.

West has been concerned about the use of biological and chemical weapons.
Earlier, Ukraine had accused Russia had used an “unknown substance” that led to respiratory problems among civilians.
Russian President Vladimir Putin shows concern over Moscow’s own security that the country seems to be at stake in Donbas.
Ukraine’s defence ministry expects a major assault is likely to happen soon.
The UN Security Council on Monday also held a session on the plight of women and children in Ukraine.
Another meeting will take place next week on the humanitarian situation. So far, more than 4.5 million Ukrainians have fled their country, as per the United Nations refugee agency.
