A series of strong earthquakes jolted China Saturday. At least 3 people were killed and 27 others got injured.
The earthquake was felt in all 12 counties and cities of the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture. Yangbi remains the worst hit.
Over 70,000 residents in more than 20,000 households were affected by these quakes. Four earthquakes over 5.0-magnitude jolted Yangbi from 9 pm to 11 pm as per the Beijing Time, according to the China Earthquake Networks Centre.
The region also recorded 166 aftershocks. Rescue forces were dispatched to the quake zone. Rescue efforts are underway.
However, no casualties were reported after a 7.4-magnitude earthquake jolted northwest China’s Qinghai Province Saturday, as per Xinhua.
The epicentre of the earthquake in China was monitored at 34.59 degrees north latitude and 98.34 degrees east longitude.
Moreover, the Highway sections and bridges experienced collapses in the quake-hit area.
