Several people were killed in a stampede at a Jewish pilgrimage site of Israel Friday. The stampede incident took place as several thousand, mainly ultra-Orthodox Jews were participating in an annual pilgrimage for the feast of Lag BaOmer, in Meron.
Emergency services soon came into action. The concerned authorities had only allowed 10,000 people to gather at the site. But around 30,000 pilgrims were present in Meron. The overburdened crowd led to a deadly stampede in Israel.
As per Israel’s media, at least 40 people lost their lives in the stampede. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu calls it a great tragedy.
The videos on social media show a large numbers of ultra-Orthodox Jews together in tight spaces.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu is struggling to form a governing coalition in Israel. And this tragedy is bound t0 complicate things fo Netanyahu.
