The Taliban will officially recruit suicide bombers as part of the army. This comes as the militant group attempts to contain its biggest security threat from their rival Islamic State since forming government in Afghanistan.
Before seizing the power in Afghanistan last year, the Taliban used suicide bombers to attack and defeat the US and Afghan troops in the 20-year war.
The ultras are now trying to reform and organize the same scattered squads of suicide bombers to operate under a single unit.
So, their main target would be the local offshoot of the Islamic State (IS).
The IS has carried out at least five major attacks as the Taliban looks to consolidate power after the US troops withdrawal. And several of those attacks were carried out by suicide bombers.
These special forces also include martyrdom seekers; they will be used for more sophisticated and special operations.
The Taliban attempts to build a stronger and organized army to bolster defence nationwide and at the borders as well.
These suicide bombers will become an integral part of the strategy.
Islamic State fighters have remained a big challenge to the authority of the Taliban.
One of the group’s deadliest attacks took place on August 26 when a suicide bomber killed nearly 200 people in Kabul airport.
