In recent shootout incidents, an 18-year-old gunman killed 19 children and two teachers at a Texas elementary school.

He first barricaded himself inside a classroom before shooting anyone that was in his way. The gruesome attack is the latest in a series of mass killings at churches, schools and stores.

The children of Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas were celebrating.

The kids were enjoying their “Footloose and Fancy” themed day at school just before the summer break.

The school’s end-of-year celebrations also included a visit to the zoo and a “gifted and talented showcase”. Just a day ago, their awards day took place when the school’s pupils received certificates for the end of the school year.

Notably, an agent from Texas Border Patrol’s elite tactical unit who happened to be nearby when the shooting began rushed into the school.

He killed Ramos, who was behind a barricade. This agent was struck in the leg by either a bullet or shrapnel.

The teenage shooter had purchased his cache of lethal weapons immediately after his 18th birthday, on May 16.
