A man wearing a joker costume with a knife in hand attacked and injured at least 17 people on an underground train line in Tokyo, Japan.
The Police have arrested a 24-year-old man. He was roaming around wearing a costume with a knife as a potential weapon.
The arson attack took place when he sprayed a clear liquid around the carriage and set it alight.
The now-viral video shows the passengers running through carriages, making their way out, away from the flames and clambering out of train windows.
The attack happened near Kokuryo station, Tokyo western suburbs. As per the eyewitnesses, the suspect was wearing a bright purple and green suit.

Another video trending on Twitter shows a bespectacled man donning a purple suit and a bright green shirt. He is sitting in an empty train puffing on a cigarette.

The Tokyo train attack occurred on the Keio express line which was bound for Shinjuku. This is the world’s busiest rail station.
Recently, Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s coalition managed to keep a comfortable majority in the October 31 parliamentary election.
This comes after he lost some seats as his nascent government struggles with a Covid-battered economy and regional security threats among others.
