Russia-Ukraine war: Several deadly mass strikes by Russia across Ukraine Tuesday killed 14 people while injuring dozens more.
Kyiv was also hit by multiple strikes; this is the first onslaught since late June. The Ukrainian PM Denys Shmygal said, “11 important infrastructure facilities had been damaged across eight regions and Kyiv. Now, it is necessary to be prepared for temporary power, water and communication cuts.”
Ukraine’s army informed that Russia launched 84 cruise missiles. The retaliatory strikes come two days after a large explosion damaged a bridge connecting Russia to Crimea.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba reiterated that the latest strikes show Putin’s desperation, just after battlefield defeats.
Ukraine blames Russia for using Iranian-made drones sent from Belarus. The Iranian Shahed-136 UAVs [unmanned aerial vehicles] were launched from Belarus.
“The massive strike was carried out with high-precision, long-range weapons on energy, military command and communications facilities in Ukraine,” Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with his Security Council.
The three countries, of which Lithuania and Poland are EU and NATO members, share a border with Belarus.
