U.S. President Joe Biden Thursday announced greenhouse gas emissions cut by US.

He said that the U.S. would cut its gas emissions by 50-52 per cent by 2030 relative to 2005 levels.

Mr Biden maintains that the U.S. would double its annual financing commitments to developing countries by 2024.

Moreover, these new target announcements came at a ‘Leaders Summit on Climate.’

The US is hosting this summit in which 40 heads of state and government will be there.

The gas emissions targets are part of the Paris Agreement on climate. These are non-binding. The Biden administration is hoping to encourage other countries to increase their commitments also.

After Trump had withdrawn US from climate leadership role, the new administration is now seeking to bring America back into the leadership role.
