The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has charged Colin Gray with four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of child cruelty. The charges stem from his alleged failure to prevent his son from accessing a firearm, despite knowing the risks.

Colt Gray, 16, has been charged with four counts of felony murder and will be tried as an adult, according to officials. In 2022, local officials in nearby Jackson County investigated online threats related to a potential school shooting made from a Discord account, which was linked to Colt. However, authorities did not have sufficient evidence to take action. Colin Gray had claimed that while there were hunting guns in the home, his son did not have unsupervised access to them.

Colt Gray was arrested soon after the shooting and is currently being held without bond at the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center. His arraignment is set for Friday before a Georgia Superior Court judge via video.
