The World Health Organization (WHO) Friday urged wealthy nations to stop inoculating children against coronavirus and instead donate vaccines to poorer nations.

Calling it a moral catastrophe, WHO director-general Tedros criticised some rich nations.

He stressed that there is not enough vaccine supply to vaccinate even health care workers.

This comes after the USCDC recommended expanding usage of Pfizer-BioNtech Covid-19 vaccine for 12- to 15-year-olds.

Dr Tedros also termed the Covid-19 situation in India as hugely concerning. Since several states continue to record a ‘worrying number of cases, hospitalisations and deaths.

He also added that not only India but countries like Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam are also dealing with spikes in cases and hospitalisations.
