2025 Isuzu D-Max EV Unveiled – Electric Power With Diesel Toughness
2025 Isuzu D-Max EV: Isuzu has formally launched the production-ready D-Max EV at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show (CV Show) in Birmingham, UK. Derived from the concept revealed earlier this year at the Bharat Mobility Expo, the all-electric D-Max pickup truck delivers the same tough reliability as its diesel counterpart — but with a zero-emission spin.
Priced to hit European shores later this year, the D-Max EV might usher in a new chapter for electric utility workhorses.
2025 Isuzu D-Max EV: Same Old Looks, Electric Soul
From a cursory glance, the Isuzu D-Max EV appears almost identical to its ICE sibling. Whereas the showcar boasted a closed-off grille and sleeked-up lighting, the production model is closer to adhering to the rugged design parlance of the current-generation D-Max DL40 and V-Cross offerings.
Available in both Double Cab and Extended Cab configurations, the D-Max EV is sprung on a revised form of the rugged ladder-frame chassis — now purpose-built for battery packs and electric motors.
2025 Isuzu D-Max EV: Powertrain, Specs, and Real-World Performance
In the engine bay — or rather under the floor — the D-Max EV is driven by a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery that powers a dual-motor configuration. Combined, these motors produce:
- 190 PS (140 kW) total power
- 325 Nm torque (108 Nm front / 217 Nm rear)
- 0-100 km/h in 10.1 seconds
- Top speed: 128+ km/h
- For context, it puts it similarly matched for performance to Isuzu's bestselling 1.9L turbo diesel D-Max (164 hp / 360 Nm).
- The WLTP-validated range is 263 km, and although that doesn't sound revolutionary, it's what many commercial operators have come to expect of a 4x4 workhorse.
Payload capacity is 1 ton, and towing capacity is as much as 3.5 tons — figures that place it in the same league as traditional diesel pickups.
Off-Roading Cred Remains Intact
Even with an electric powertrain, the D-Max hasn't lost its go-anywhere spirit.
- 4x4 drivetrain with Rough Terrain Mode
- 210 mm ground clearance
- 600 mm water wading ability
- 30.5° approach angle / 24.2° departure angle
This makes it just as capable off the beaten track as on the worksite.
Comfort, Cabin and Tech Upgrades
The D-Max EV receives a significant improvement in ride quality through a new De-Dion rear suspension in place of the conventional leaf springs. Isuzu claims it provides:
- Enhanced handling on tarmac
- Less noise & vibrations by 10% at higher speeds
- Within the cabin, drivers are rewarded with:
- Isuzu's new high-resolution infotainment system
- Wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
- Enhanced ADAS capabilities for passenger protection
Production for the Thailand plant has already begun, and the company has revealed an 8-year/1.60 lakh km battery warranty, providing long-term peace of mind.

Will It Reach India?
Isuzu has not announced an India launch as yet, but with the country's drive toward commercial electrification and Isuzu's increasing presence here, D-Max EV India launch might be on the cards in 2026 or beyond. There has been no official timeline released, though.
