Uttar Pradesh Launches Seed Producing Parks to Boost Local Agriculture - Read Now 

In a transformative initiative aimed at enhancing local agriculture, the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has announced the establishment of "Seed Producing Parks." These parks will be developed across five regions in the state, targeting specific agricultural climates. This move is expected to reduce the state's heavy reliance on hybrid seeds sourced primarily from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, which currently costs around ₹3,000 crore annually. Each park will span at least 200 hectares and will utilize public-private partnerships to improve seed quality and agricultural productivity.

Introduction of Seed Parks: The Yogi government is launching Seed Producing Parks to foster local seed production and strengthen the agricultural sector.

Strategic Regional Focus: Five parks will be set up in distinct regions of Uttar Pradesh, including Western, Terai, Central, Bundelkhand, and Eastern areas, catering to local agricultural needs.

Public-Private Partnership Model: Each park will cover a minimum of 200 hectares and will be developed using a public-private partnership (PPP) model, ensuring robust infrastructure and resources.

Reducing Dependence on Other States: Currently, Uttar Pradesh spends approximately ₹3,000 crore annually on hybrid seeds, with a significant portion sourced from other states. This initiative aims to cut that dependency significantly.

Agricultural Importance: With the largest area of cultivable land in India, Uttar Pradesh plays a crucial role in agriculture, supporting nearly three crore families, making this initiative vital for local livelihoods and food security.
