CJI Chandrachud in Farewell Speech, Trolls Will Be Jobless Soon

India’s 50th Chief Justice, CJI Chandrachud, is set to retire on Sunday. In his farewell speech on Friday, he remarked that he might be the most trolled judge.
 

He also shared a line from Bashir Badr:  Mukhalifat se meri shakhsiyat sanwarti hai; main dushmanon ka bada ehteram karta hoon , which, loosely translated reads as Opposition refines my character; I hold my opponents in high regard.

CJI Chandrachud Reflects on Legacy

Chief Justice Chandrachud also spoke of his personal encounter through a story of his late father, who was himself Chief Justice of India. He narrates how the story of his father went as he had bought a small flat in Pune to hand it over to him for the last day of his judicial service. If ever you feel you have compromised your moral or intellectual integrity, I want you to know you have a roof over your head. Never compromise yourself as a lawyer or as a judge,his father said, adding that that advice had been a guiding principle in his career. Justice Chandrachud was India's 50th Chief Justice. He assumed office on November 9, 2022, and made several landmark judgments.
