Jhansi Fire Tragedy: Rescue Mix-Up Brings Parents Together with Children After Three Days of Hell, Emotional Turmoil

In Jhansi's medical college fire, a child mix-up left families in turmoil. After three days, police resolved the confusion, reuniting kids with their parents.

JHANSI, India – Dramatic circumstances that followed the fire disaster at Jhansi Medical College on November 15 threw families into emotional chaos. In the haste of evacuation, children were mistakenly handed over to other parents. It took three days for the confusion to clear, and the family received their own children.

The distressed father Kriparam was searching desperately for his child, only to find out that his son was mistakenly taken by the Mahendra, another parent present at the site. Mahendra and his wife so believed the child belonged to him, started to care for the boy and also took private medical treatment. Meanwhile, the real child of Mahendra was found at the medical college admitted for treatment.

The puzzle unraveled as the police intervened by calling both families to the hospital for identification. Only then did it become clear that the children had been swapped during the chaotic rescue operation. After verification, both parents were reunited with their respective children.

Mahendra shared that he had been an emotional mess, saying, "We treated and cared for a child for three days. We thought he was our child. But it was when the police contacted us that the entire mix-up unfolded. We are relieved to get our son back, and we have handed over the other child to his family.
