Kanpur Gym Murder Mystery: CCTV Captures the Woman's Last Moments and Trainer Hides Body in VVIP Area

CCTV footage from the gym on the day of the incident shows the woman, dressed in a red t-shirt and black pants, marking her last appearance before her tragic death.

KANPUR — Chilling details have emerged in the case of a Kanpur woman allegedly murdered by her gym trainer, Vimal Soni, whose body was buried near the Kanpur District Magistrate's bungalow in a high-security area. CCTV footage from the gym on the day of the incident shows the woman, dressed in a red t-shirt and black pants, marking her last appearance before her tragic death.

The woman was missing since June 24, and only four months later, in October, has her body just been found. The video, which came out over the weekend, reveals that the woman was in the gym located in Kanpur's Green Park area. She is a member of the very same gym for two and half years. The police further said that the distance between the gym and where her body was later found buried is about a kilometer.

Disturbing Confession and Recovery of Body

Soni confessed his crime during interrogation by police and revealed that he buried the body in a part of District Magistrate residence compound in North Kanpur. That place is mostly reserved for officials and is generally guarded.

It was there that the body eventually surfaced, close to the camp office of the District Magistrate's residence, near which exists a security post.

Questions in such a scenario abound of how such a crime passed without notice in the same space that is considered one of the high-security areas for months.

Incidents Leading to the Massacre

Police investigations revealed a possible motive behind personal tensions between the victim and the accused. News reports indicate that the woman was sensitive to the fact that Soni had recently finalised his wedding. The CCTV footage captures her entering the gym after an absence of 20 days. On that day, she and Soni left the gym and sat in his car to discuss which eventually became a time-consuming argument.

A hot argument is said to have exchanged with punches when the police reports claim that Soni punched the woman in her neck, and she lost her consciousness. It is that time during which he reportedly killed her.

Question on Security:

In the wake of this case, many have gone ahead to question the vulnerabilities that made it possible for such a long time to maintain a body in a government property. The fact that a body was found so near a security post raised people's questions about the surveillance in high-security areas.

The case continues to evolve as the investigators dig deeper into the matter and possible lapses that could have let the killer get away. In the meanwhile, CCTV camera footage and confession by Soni would come in handy in court because the authorities will leave no stone unturned to see justice to the victim and her family.
