In a brutal act of terrorism, terrorists killed 31-year-old Shubham Dwivedi, a cement merchant from Kanpur, in the recent terror strike in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The newly wed couple had been married for just two months and had arrived in the valley on a holiday. Shubham was killed in the head in front of his wife when the attackers interrogated him for his name.
The attack happened while the couple, and other family members, were touring the picturesque town of Pahalgam. Shubham and his wife had walked a short distance uphill when they were attacked by gunmen. As panic and family members ran helter-skelter, Shubham was targeted and killed. His wife Sania rang up the family in Kanpur later and notified them of the attack.
Shubham's cousin, Saurabh Dwivedi, narrated how the family heard the shocking news on April 23. As per him, Shubham had made plans to return to Kanpur on the same day. The news has left the Dwivedi family grieving, as the hope of a happy return turned into mourning.
The couple had gotten married on February 12. They had taken a trip to Kashmir with relatives, visiting places such as Gulmarg and Sonmarg, after the wedding. Tuesday's trip to Pahalgam proved to be deadly.
