“I’ll Beat Everyone”—Kanpur Man’s Final Smile Before Pahalgam Terror Attack

What was meant to be a joyful family vacation turned into an unforgettable tragedy for the Dwivedi family from Kanpur. Shubham Dwivedi, a newlywed and a young businessman, was among those killed in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. A heart-wrenching video, now circulating widely, captures Shubham’s final moments—playing cards with his family and joking, “I’ll beat everyone.”

The video, shot just one night prior to the attack, captures Shubham smiling and spending quality time with his family members. Nobody would have imagined that this would be his last night spent in laughter and smiles. Shubham had gone to Kashmir along with his whole family on April 17, eager to spend tranquil days in the valley.

It was tragedy when terrorists opened fire in the Pahalgam meadows. Shubham, who was accompanied by his wife while other members of his family were present, was killed. His wife remembered later how the assailants spared her and said, "We won't kill you. You must go back and tell your government what we've done."

Shubham's cousin said that it was his sister-in-law who made the tragic phone call to break the news to them about the shooting. The family's world was shattered. Sanjay Dwivedi, a renowned cement businessman in Kanpur, was waiting for his son to come back from the vacation on Wednesday.
