Following safety protocols, the aircraft underwent a thorough security check, incurring time delays and heavy costs. In a separate incident, a Mumbai-New York flight had to return to Delhi, where the pilot had to dump nearly 100 tons of fuel, worth ₹1 crore, to ensure a safe landing. Air India was also hit hard by such threats when their Boeing 777 flight from Delhi to Chicago had to be diverted to Canada on October 15. Over 200 passengers were stranded for four days, and the airline had to replace the crew and provide accommodations, resulting in a loss of ₹20 crore.
