Dehradun High-Speed Crash: Six Killed, Sole Survivor Critical After MUV Hits Truck - Read Now

A tragic high-speed crash at ONGC Chowk, Dehradun, killed six young adults when their MUV collided with a truck. Sole survivor Siddhesh Agrawal remains critical. Reckless driving and non-functional CCTV cameras highlight safety concerns. Investigations continue.

In a tragic accident, six young lives were lost in a high-speed collision at ONGC Chowk, Dehradun, in the early hours of Tuesday. A multi-utility vehicle (MUV), carrying seven friends aged between 19 and 24, collided with a container truck, leaving the vehicle mangled and killing six on the spot.

Fatal Night Drive

The victims—Guneet Singh, Kamakshi Singhal, Navya Goyal, Rishabh Jain, Atul Agrawal, and Kunal Kukreja—were returning from a late-night party hosted by the sole survivor, Siddhesh Agrawal. The group decided to go for a drive after the party, which ended in the fatal crash around 1:30 a.m.

How the Accident Happened

CCTV footage shows the MUV traveling at over 100 km/h, attempting to overtake a luxury car. The driver misjudged the timing and collided with the truck’s rear left side. The impact tore off the MUV’s roof, killing six on the spot.

  • The MUV, believed to be a new vehicle without number plates, was traveling from Ballupur Chowk to Garhi Cantt.
  • Authorities report the accident occurred due to reckless driving, a common issue among young drivers in the region.

Survivor and Investigations

The sole survivor, Siddhesh Agrawal (25), is in a stable condition but unable to speak due to a severe head injury. The crash has complicated the legal process as the car’s driver also lost his life. Police have yet to receive formal complaints from the victims’ families.

Safety Concerns

Adding to the tragedy, non-functional CCTV cameras at ONGC Chowk hindered clear documentation of the accident. Out of 536 cameras in Dehradun, 134 remain offline due to a ransomware attack, including the one crucial to this case.

Authorities Respond

Local authorities have attributed the crash to excessive speeding and poor judgment by the driver. The truck driver fled the scene but is not believed to be at fault.

Mourning the Loss

The victims included students and young professionals, leaving families and friends devastated. The incident underscores the urgent need for stricter traffic regulations and functional surveillance systems in Dehradun.
