New 2025 Land Rover Defender Gets Tech Boost and Refreshed Design

Land Rover has launched the 2025 version of its iconic Defender, adding nuanced exterior and interior styling changes as well as an important technology enhancement. In recent years, the Defender has been a highlight success for Land Rover, and the changes are intended to keep the model current and desirable in a crowded SUV marketplace.

What's New in the 2025 Defender?

The facelift extends to the entire Defender family, such as the Defender 90, 110, and 130 models. Although Land Rover has not made the official word on the launch date, nor the sequence of market launches, there is high speculation that the new Defender will also be launched in India in the near future.

The interior upgrade within the cabin is a larger 13.1-inch stand-alone infotainment display, taking over from the former 11.4-inch display. The larger screen gives the impression of making the vehicle more modern-looking and provides additional room for working through Land Rover's Pivi Pro operating system, enhancing the user experience.

In addition to the larger screen, the center console has been redesigned slightly to have a sliding cover for the cup holders, providing a touch of sophistication. A new driver attention camera attached to the steering column provides an extra level of safety by tracking alertness levels.

Another high-tech feature added is the Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control, which automatically regulates the vehicle's speed on bumpy terrain to the same comfort level desired by the driver. This feature reflects Defender's double personality as a formidable off-roader and cruisy traveler.

Shine On, Caro. Exterior Updates

Exterior wise, the 2025 Defender presents refined but significant updates. New bumpers also sport Carpathian Grey Satin or Silicon Silver finishes, with the front grille getting a gloss black finish as standard along with a darkened oval Land Rover badge.

Other styling highlights include gloss black wheel center caps and the DEFENDER lettering, new textured inserts on the bonnet and side vents, and subtly modified headlights with two LED cubes alongside the circular LED unit. The rear lights get a darker, sportier tint, further accentuating the modern, tough appearance of the vehicle.

Powertrain Options

The updated Defender is likely to carry over its present engine family, which comprises the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, 5.0-liter supercharged V8, a 3.0-liter inline-six diesel, and a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) model — to meet broad spectrum performance and efficiency needs.
