Delhi Govt Extends EV Policy 2.0 by 3 Months as New Draft Awaits Approval

In an effort to provide continuity and prevent disruption, the Delhi government has extended by three months its current Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2.0. This is happening as the city waits for the final nod to the revised EV draft policy.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta sanctioned the extension, whereas Transport Minister Pankaj Singh assured people that no restrictions on auto-rickshaws or other vehicle segments will be initiated during this time.
First announced in August 2020, the EV policy envisioned 25% EV penetration by 2024 and was expected to cut vehicle pollution and support the adoption of electric vehicles. Even though the original term for the policy concluded in August 2024, the government already extended it prior to this recent extension, and this new one maintains it operative until the launch of the new policy.
