India's car behemoth, Maruti Suzuki, has officially announced the launch of two new SUVs in 2025. The company's roadmap, announced on April 25, 2025, mentions the highly anticipated launch of the eVitara electric SUV, followed by a second, but unnamed SUV by the end of the year.

eVitara Launching by September 2025

The eVitara, which debuted globally at the 2025 Auto Expo in New Delhi, is to be launched officially in September 2025. Display units have already begun arriving at Nexa dealerships in the country, giving customers a look at the EV ahead of its official launch.

Expected to be priced between Rs 16 lakh to Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom), the eVitara will directly compete with rivals like the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, and MG ZS EV. The eVitara promises to enhance Maruti’s presence in the burgeoning Indian EV market and will be sold through the company’s premium Nexa chain.

A Second SUV Launching by Year-End

Apart from the eVitara, Maruti Suzuki has also confirmed launching a second SUV by the end of 2025. While the company has not officially announced anything, industry experts believe that it would be a 7-seater variant of the Grand Vitara.

Spy photos of a camouflaged SUV thought to be this 7-seater Grand Vitara have been revealed on several occasions. Visible differences in the front and rear styling suggest a new look to set it apart from the regular Grand Vitara.

Emphasis on Exports and Manufacturing Expansion

Maruti Suzuki is going after a growth model on the back of exports in an aggressive manner. Domestic growth, though steady at 2% YoY, is complemented by a focus to double the export growth in FY26 at 20%. This shift promises to really catapult overall production and sales numbers high.

As far as production targets go, Maruti Suzuki announced that it will produce 70,000 units of the eVitara during the current fiscal year. Most of these units will be shipped out, with a smaller batch being kept for the Indian market.

Other Projects in the Pipeline

Aside from SUVs, Maruti Suzuki also sees potential in manufacturing electric ambulances through the PM E-DRIVE program. The firm is also pushing for tax breaks for small cars and has even signaled the creation of a small hybrid car for environmentally aware consumers.

With a holistic and diversified strategy, Maruti Suzuki sees itself recovering its 50% market share in India's vibrant auto market.
