Share with iPhone’ Review: Can OPPO Finally Break the Android-iPhone Barrier?

OPPO’s ‘Share with iPhone’ promises seamless file sharing between Android and iOS devices. Does it deliver? Explore its features, benefits, and limitations here!

Share with iPhone’ Review

In their latest smartphone launches, OPPO and OnePlus unveiled an exciting new feature called “Share with iPhone.” This innovative tool aims to bridge the gap between Android and iOS devices, making it easier to share photos and videos. But how well does it actually perform? Let’s explore.

How “Share with iPhone” Works

For users of OPPO and OnePlus smartphones running on Android 15-based ColorOS 15 or OxygenOS 15, sharing files with an iPhone is straightforward. By selecting the “Share with iPhone” option in the Photos or File Manager app, users can transfer files seamlessly. However, iPhone users need to install an additional app called O+ Connect, available for both iPhones and iPads.

The setup process for the first file transfer takes about 30 seconds. Once configured, subsequent transfers are quicker and easier. Interestingly, the O+ Connect app also enables iPhone users to send files back to OPPO and OnePlus devices, making it a two-way feature.

A Promising Solution with Limitations

The “Share with iPhone” feature solves a key issue for users frequently sharing files with iPhone owners. However, there’s a catch: the iPhone user must have the O+ Connect app installed to receive files. While convincing close friends and family members to download the app might be easy, it could be a hurdle when sharing files with acquaintances or less tech-savvy users.

This reliance on an external app might push users toward alternative solutions, such as WhatsApp or email, for file sharing. Popular apps like Shareit, Send Anywhere, Xender, and AirDroid offer similar functionality but require installation on both Android and iOS devices.

How Does It Compare to Other File-Sharing Options?

OPPO’s “Share with iPhone” feature works well but doesn’t match the seamless experience of tools like “Nearby Share,” which allows effortless sharing between Android devices without additional apps. This makes OPPO’s solution ideal for iPhone users frequently engaging with OPPO or OnePlus users but less appealing for one-off or casual file sharing.
