Renault Duster 4×4 Hybrid with Electric Rear Axle & LPG Option Confirmed for 2025
Renault's Duster 4×4 Hybrid is set to launch in 2025, featuring an electric rear axle, hybrid AWD, and LPG option. Designed for efficiency and affordability, this innovative SUV will cater to diverse driving needs. India’s launch is delayed to 2026, while global markets await its debut.

Renault Duster 4×4 Hybrid: Renault is gearing up to introduce the highly anticipated Duster 4×4 Hybrid this year, as confirmed by Dacia CEO Denis Le Vot. Currently, the 3rd-gen Duster is available in select markets across Europe, with the hybrid variant set for a global debut later in 2025.
Renault Duster 4×4 Hybrid: Hybrid Setup with Electric Rear Axle
The new Duster 4×4 will feature a hybrid system with an electric motor mounted on the rear axle. This innovative AWD setup is designed to improve performance and enhance traction in various driving conditions. Unlike traditional AWD systems, the hybrid variant offers efficiency, simplified mechanics, and robust torque delivery.
The system is expected to operate intelligently, engaging AWD automatically in slippery conditions or when additional traction is required, similar to the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. However, Dacia's focus on affordability suggests a straightforward, easy-to-maintain hybrid drivetrain.
LPG Option for Added Flexibility
To cater to diverse consumer needs, the Duster 4×4 Hybrid will also include an LPG option. This makes it an attractive choice for budget-conscious buyers looking for alternative fuel options. The AWD system is also planned for Dacia’s upcoming Bigster SUV, ensuring accessibility to a broader audience.
India Launch Timeline
The launch of the hybrid Duster in India is unlikely before 2026, as Renault's 2025 focus will remain on updating the Kiger and Triber models. Globally, the Duster 4×4 Hybrid will debut later this year, with plans for an electric Duster by 2030-31.
Legacy of Duster AWD in India
India previously experienced the AWD-equipped Duster with the first-gen model in 2014, powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine producing 108 bhp and 245 Nm of torque. The upcoming 3rd-gen hybrid Duster is expected to be automatic and significantly more refined, delivering enhanced performance while maintaining affordability.
With its innovative hybrid AWD system and LPG option, the Renault Duster 4×4 Hybrid promises to cater to SUV enthusiasts worldwide, combining innovation, practicality, and cost-effectiveness.
