Samsung Suspends One UI 7 Update After Bug Locks Users Out

Samsung has officially suspended the global deployment of its One UI 7 update, barely days after it started reaching consumers. The update, which was based on Android 15, had previously rolled out to flagship models such as the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, and some A-series phones.

As per a post on Samsung's Korean community forums, the rollout was suspended because of some maintenance problems, which have since been fixed. The company is now looking to restart the rollout from April 15, though a specific timeline has not been confirmed for some regions like India.

What Went Wrong with One UI 7

Although Samsung hasn't released an in-depth report, several users—mainly in South Korea—have claimed a serious bug that made their Galaxy S24 phones unusable upon installation. The bug seems to hinder phones from unlocking in some situations.

Well-known leaker Ice Universe pointed to the issue on X (formerly Twitter), saying the bug was serious enough for Samsung to fully remove the update from global servers. They later confirmed older firmware versions were rolled back on Samsung's official channels.

One Samsung forum user explained, saying:

“The reason for the delay in the Galaxy S24 push is that users of the official version of One UI7… found that they could not be unlocked normally in some cases.”

Regional Rollout Status: What About India

One UI 7's stable version had already started rollout on April 7 in South Korea, subsequently followed by Europe, the US, and Canada. In India, the initial phased rollout was completed, though not all target devices got updated before the delay.

So far, Samsung hasn't announced an updated date for the update in India, though the global resumption date stands provisionally for April 15.
