Suzuki GSX-8R: Suzuki, a name synonymous with superbikes, has added another exciting model to its lineup in India with the launch of the new GSX-8R. Known for creating some of the world's most iconic superbikes, Suzuki has now introduced the GSX-8R to cater to the growing demand for high-performance motorcycles in the country. This fully-faired sportbike is priced at Rs 9.25 lakh (ex-showroom) and comes in three striking color options: Metallic Matte Sword Silver, Metallic Triton Blue, and Metallic Matte Black No.2.

Design and Features

The Suzuki GSX-8R is designed to offer a perfect blend of exhilarating performance and everyday usability. Its aggressive sportbike styling, complete with aerodynamic fairings, a sleek cowling, and a windscreen developed through extensive wind-tunnel testing, ensures a dynamic look and enhanced performance. The short exhaust muffler contributes to the bike's sleek and compact design.

Key design elements include hexagonal LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED taillights, and LED turn signals that provide a modern and sophisticated appearance. The bike also features a long tail section, which some riders may opt to modify. Inside, the GSX-8R boasts a 5-inch TFT LCD instrument cluster, adding a touch of modernity and functionality.

Suzuki GSX-8R: Engine and Performance

At the heart of the GSX-8R lies a powerful 776cc parallel-twin, DOHC, 4-valve engine. This engine features a 270-degree crankshaft, a cross balancer system, and a 2-in-1 exhaust system with a 2-stage catalytic converter. It produces 81.8 bhp at 8,500 RPM and 78 Nm of torque at 6,800 RPM, offering a thrilling ride experience. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox, and Suzuki has equipped the bike with clutch assist and a bi-directional quick-shifter for smoother gear changes.

Suzuki GSX-8R:Chassis and Handling

Built on a steel frame, the GSX-8R uses aluminium components wherever possible to keep the weight down. The bike features Showa SFF-BP USD telescopic front forks and a Showa link-type rear mono-shock for superior suspension and handling. The braking system includes dual 310mm front discs and a 240mm rear disc, ensuring reliable stopping power. The aluminium 17-inch wheels are fitted with Dunlop Roadsport 2 tyres, providing excellent grip and stability.

With a 14-litre fuel tank, cowl-mounted ORVMs, a comfortable seat, and an elevated pillion seat, the GSX-8R is designed to provide both comfort and performance. The bike has a kerb weight of 205 kg, making it manageable for both daily rides and high-speed adventures.

Competitors

The Suzuki GSX-8R enters the market as a direct competitor to other mid-weight sportbikes such as the Triumph Daytona 660 and the Yamaha R7, which is expected to launch in India soon. These bikes share similar performance capabilities and are targeted at riders who want the thrill of a superbike with everyday usability.
