Mahindra, after launching its new product in the Indian market, the BE 6E, is now set to enter the pickup truck segment with the Scorpio-N-based Global Pik Up. Currently, the pickup truck market in India is small, with only two options available: the Isuzu V-Cross and the Toyota Hilux. In this article, we will take a look at the upcoming three pickup trucks in India.

Toyota Hilux

Toyota updated the Hilux pickup for international markets earlier this year. The updated model received several changes, including minor cosmetic tweaks and the addition of a hybrid powertrain. The updated Hilux is expected to launch in India in 2025. It will be powered by a 2.8-liter turbo engine paired with a 48V hybrid system.

The power output stands at 204 bhp and 500 Nm of peak torque. According to Toyota, the new mild hybrid system not only improves power delivery but also enhances fuel efficiency for customers.

Isuzu D-Max

Isuzu launched a mid-life facelift of the D-Max in Thailand in October 2024. The updated model features significant changes to the front design, including a new 3D grille, updated headlights, and a redesigned bumper. The rear has also been revised, and the truck now comes with new alloy wheels.

Inside, the D-Max boasts a refreshed interior with new features such as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), ventilated seats, and a powered driver’s seat. The truck continues to be powered by the 1.9-liter turbo diesel engine, delivering 163 bhp and 360 Nm of torque.

Mahindra Scorpio-N Based Pickup

Mahindra revealed the Global Pik Up concept in August last year, and since then, we’ve spotted test prototypes in India. The new pickup truck, which may be named the Scorpio-X, shares design features with the Scorpio-N, as shown in the concept.
