Bengaluru Airport Customs Seize Over ₹3 Crore Worth of Smuggled Goods in 8 Days

Bengaluru, September 2 – Customs officials at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru have seized smuggled goods worth over ₹3 crore in just eight days. The seizures were made from 31 passengers who were attempting to bring contraband into the country from various international locations.

Between August 23 and August 30, passengers arriving from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates were found carrying a variety of high-value items, including cigarettes and electronic gadgets. The total value of the seized goods exceeds ₹3 crore.

The contraband included 5.13 lakh cigarettes and e-cigarettes worth ₹3.2 crore, along with 43 laptops and 16 iPhones. The passengers involved were intercepted based on detailed profiling, tips, and other intelligence inputs. The seized items were confiscated after thorough checks by Customs officials.

Investigations are currently underway to determine the full extent of the smuggling operations and any potential connections to larger smuggling networks.

This recent crackdown highlights the vigilance of Customs officials at Bengaluru Airport, as they continue to prevent the illegal importation of high-value goods into the country.
