A video of an Ola electric scooter catching fire outside an Ola showroom in Bengaluru's BTM Layout area has surfaced and gone viral on social media, gaining attention and waves of criticism. In a video shared by Congress spokesperson Lavanya Ballal Jain on the platform X (formerly Twitter), the scooter is seen on fire with people recording the scene. Trolls and criticisms targeted Ola for what users say is poor quality and safety of its scooters. Some users humorously labeled the fire incident as Ola's "special Diwali feature," while others called it the corporate Diwali party.

Ola Scooter in Bengaluru Incident, Sparks Viral Criticism

Ola has already faced criticism from customers over substandard services and complaints over their scooters. On October 7, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) issued a show-cause notice to Ola Electric seeking clarification on thousands of unresolved complaints from customers. Secretary of the Department of Consumer Affairs Nidhi Khare said the CCPA was looking into a variety of complaints related to service inefficiencies, for which she hoped the company would take prompt action.

Ola Electric has recently returned with an answer where it claims that it has resolved 99.1% of the 10,644 customer complaints that it received. The company has stated its commitment towards customer satisfaction. Chief Financial Officer Harish Abhichandani assured that Ola's redressal system is robust and nearly all complaints had been resolved satisfactorily.

Ola Electric continues to stress its commitment to improving service quality and addressing customer complaints as it moves on with many challenging situations involving public perception and service standards. In a recent online exchange, Ola chief executive Bhavish Aggarwal publicly had a spat with comedian Kunal Kamra following the latter's sharing of posts by customers alleging poor service. Aggarwal told Kamra to either "help us out" or keep his silence, which led to more discussions on the same.
