Techie Vipin Gupta Missing in Bengaluru: Wife Reveals Rs 1.8 Lakh Withdrawn From His Account, Shares Emotional FB Video
Bengaluru: A Bengaluru woman, Sriparna, has turned to social media for assistance in finding her husband, Vipin Gupta, who has been missing since August 4. Despite filing a report with the police, she claims that there has been little progress in the investigation.
Vipin Gupta, originally from Lucknow, vanished after leaving their home at 12:44 pm on his green Kawasaki Ninja bike. The bike was later found in the parking lot of Motherhood Hospital in Hebbal, but crucial CCTV footage has yet to be reviewed. In a Facebook video, Sriparna revealed that Rs 1.8 lakh was withdrawn from her husband's bank account just 25 minutes after he went missing, and his phone has been switched off since 2 pm on the same day. She emphasized that her husband had no known addictions and was financially stable.
Sriparna faced numerous challenges in getting the police to act. She claimed that the authorities initially dismissed her concerns, only registering an FIR (No. 0302/2024) on August 6 after persistent efforts. Frustrated by the slow progress, she tried reaching out to higher officials but received no response. During a meeting on August 9 with Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) North East, Sanjeet VJ, she alleged that he yelled at her when she expressed concerns about the lack of action. The case, initially handled by Inspector Lakshmipathi at Kodigehalli station, has since been reassigned to Inspector Sunil R, who is expected to review the CCTV footage.
In an emotional plea on Facebook, Sriparna expressed deep concern for her husband's safety and urged both the police and the public to help in the search. "Please help me; I am begging you," she implored. She shared that the family had planned their younger child's ‘annaprasadam’ on August 8, and she believes her husband would not have disappeared voluntarily. Living in Bengaluru with her two daughters, aged five months and fourteen years, Sriparna is convinced that Vipin is in serious danger, particularly given the large sum withdrawn from his account after his disappearance. "I am completely sure he is in danger. He loves his daughters very much and would never leave them," she said.
Despite her continuous follow-up with the local police, Sriparna noted that little progress had been made, with the only significant development being the acquisition of her husband's phone's CD-R location as of August 8. She shared her story on social media in the hope that it would expedite the search for her husband. Following her post, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) North East Division, Bengaluru, Sajeeth VJ, confirmed that a case had been filed and is being treated as a priority.
