CM Atishi Writes to LG: 'No Temples or Religious Sites Should Be Demolished'

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has written to Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena, urging no temples or Buddhist religious sites in the city be demolished. Highlighting that Dalits had a very intrinsic bond with Buddhist sites, CM Atishi stressed that this act could even hurt public sentiments.

She further alleged that demolition orders of temples and Buddhist sites were issued according to the directives of the LG without her knowledge. Atishi expressed her apprehension that the religious committee, instead of following the Chief Minister's office, sent the file of demolition directly to the LG and sought reconsideration of the decision so as to protect faith and emotions of the people.
