Delhi Elections: After Free Rides for Women, Kejriwal Promises Free Bus Travel for Students

Delhi Elections: As the political heat begins to build up ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, political parties are intensifying their campaign efforts to woo voters in the national capital. On Friday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made a significant promise aimed at students, pledging free bus travel for them if his party is voted back to power.
Speaking at a press conference, Kejriwal said AAP focuses on education and the development of the country is based on providing quality education to everyone. He said many poor children drop out of school or college as they cannot afford daily transportation charges.
"When the nation is educated, only then will it move forward," Kejriwal said. "There are countless children who miss out on a brighter future simply because they cannot afford a ride to school or college."
He said that his government had earlier implemented free bus rides for women in Delhi, which gained far-reaching applause and support. The AAP leader now intends to include students in this facility whereby a significant expense that typically continues to undermine the education of many will be erased.
The latest promise from Kejriwal comes at a time when the election campaign is already in full swing, and the announcement is expected to strike a chord with students and their families. AAP has long focused on education and public welfare schemes, and observers believe that this will be one of the main talking points of the elections. The parties will vie to present their vision for an accessible and equitable Delhi.
