318 Fire Incidents Reported on Diwali Night in Delhi-NCR, Dog Tragically Dies in Noida Flat Fire - Read Now
Delhi-NCR saw a spate of fire incidents on Diwali 2024 night as the fire department received a total of 318 fire-related calls during the night. As the citizens were busy celebrating, fire-fighting teams were always on their toes and running to several emergency locations. No human casualty was reported. But in Noida, a fire tragedy in a high-rise flat killed a dog, thereby drawing attention to fire safety concerns in Diwali celebrations.
Diwali Night Fire Calls Across Delhi-NCR
The fire department in the city of Delhi received 318 calls between October 31 and the early hours of November 1. While most were minor incidents, serious cases were reported in 10 cases. Multiple fire incidents were seen in other neighborly cities such as Noida, Ghaziabad, and Lucknow. A large force of firefighters was deployed in these places, making the task manageable with many calls, especially in such highly populated residential areas.
Multiple incidences of fires in High-Rise buildings were noted in Noida: the worst incident was reportedly in Greater Noida West. Fire broke at the 11th Floor of Amrapali Zodiac Society and in Supertech Eco Village 1, fire at the 13th Floor spread on multiple flats, unfortunately trapping a dog in one which did not survive. Citizens tried to subdue the fire, which spread uncontrollably, and fire department personnel were brought in to put it down.
Fire incidents in Ghaziabad and Lucknow during Diwali
A major fire broke out at a shoe shop in Indirapuram's Gyan Khand in Ghaziabad. It has spread to an adjacent apartment, but thanks to an immediate response by six vehicles of the firefighting vehicles, people inside that also were evacuated safely. Incidents of fires in other cities include one car placed near the trauma centre, Medical College, and plastic storage shop in the Alambagh area.
