Delhi IGI Airport: Customs Seize Gold Worth ₹50.03 Lakh from Passenger on Kathmandu Flight
A gold smuggling case emerged at Delhi IGI Airport as customs officials arrested a woman passenger arriving from Kathmandu with gold worth ₹50.03 lakh. The recovered items included 770 grams of gold paste hidden in her body and a 681-gram gold bar, smuggled through Dubai, Bangkok, and Nepal.

A major gold smuggling case was unearthed at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on December 15, 2024. Customs officials detained an Indian woman passenger who came in flight 2156 from Kathmandu.
During the search, the officials recovered 770 grams of gold paste concealed in her private parts. In addition, a 681-gram gold bar was also seized. The total value of the recovered gold is estimated to be ₹50.03 lakh.
It emerged that the gold had been smuggled through a very intricate route, starting from Dubai and transported to Bangkok, then Nepal, and finally brought to Delhi. The authorities are probing further to identify the larger smuggling network behind the operation.
