Ghaziabad Tragedy: Woman and Three Children Killed in Devastating House Fire

A tragic fire broke out in a three-story house near Kanchan Park in the Loni area of Ghaziabad at around 4 a.m. and killed four family members and left four others critically injured. The four dead have been identified as 32-year-old Gulbahar, wife of Shahnawaz; her two sons, 9-year-old Jaan and 9-year-old Shaan; and her 7-year-old nephew Zishaan.

According to Haji Farooq, a 64-year-old owner of the house, eight people were inside when the fire broke out. Thick smoke and rapidly spreading flames trapped the victims before they could escape. Despite desperate attempts by family members—five brothers who live in two separate homes nearby—the fierce fire made rescue efforts almost impossible. According to reports, Gulbahar tried to save her children and nephew by carrying them in her arms but was not able to escape with them.

The victims include Shahnawaz himself, his wife Ayesha, and their four-year-old son Shamshad. They are all receiving treatment at a local hospital and are now out of danger. The emotional trauma is huge, however. Haji Farooq, who lost his youngest daughter-in-law and three grandsons, spoke in tears about the ordeal, saying that the garment workshop in the house was completely destroyed and the family has lost everything.

Local authorities are still trying to figure out the cause of the fire while relatives and neighbors of the deceased are trying to digest this heart-wrenching loss. The families that survived will have to bear the burden of rebuilding their lives in what just used to be their home.
