Massive Traffic Jam at Delhi Border as Rahul Gandhi’s Visit to Sambhal Faces Blockade – Know the Full Story

A major traffic disruption on Wednesday morning was caused when, in an effort to block Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his delegation from entering Uttar Pradesh, police set up a blockade at Delhi's Ghazipur border, leading to long delays for commuters. The traffic jam stretched by miles and had travelers, who were already frustrated over the blockade that was carried out ahead of the visit of the Congress MPs to Sambhal.
The Congress delegation consisting of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi was going to the town of Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh, which has been brought under heavy security due to some violent clashes that killed five youths. The delegation intends to meet the families and express solidarity. However, on their way, they have been stopped by the police at the Ghazipur border, claiming that they are not in a position to maintain law and order in that region.
Commuters were left stranded for hours, creating frustration. One traveler, Om Prakash, was returning from the airport. "I've been stuck here for over an hour. It's frustrating, especially for such a political visit," he said. Other students like Shikha Arora complained about missing their schedules due to delay. "I left early, but the roadblock is causing me a huge delay," she said.
Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were stopped from proceeding to Sambhal as prohibitory orders have been imposed in the area to avoid further aggravation of violence. The town has been barred from entry till December 10 as a result of violence that erupted on November 24.
This incident has renewed debate on the inconvenience posed by political activities, as more people questioned the need to blockade the road, especially because it affects ordinary commuters. The authorities maintained that the roadblock was necessary to maintain peace amidst the unrest in Sambhal.
