With only hours left before the New Year begins, Delhi Police has issued an advisory for the city’s popular celebration spots, particularly Connaught Place (CP). Anticipating large crowds, the police will implement special traffic and security measures from 8 PM on December 31 until the festivities conclude.

Key Highlights

Restricted Entry to Connaught Place

Only those with valid passes or reservations (such as at hotels, restaurants, or bars) will be allowed to enter Connaught Place.
Anyone without a valid pass or ticket will be denied entry.

Traffic Diversions and Metro Restrictions

From 7 PM, buses heading towards Connaught Place will be diverted.
Rajiv Chowk Metro Station: No exit allowed for passengers after 9 PM.
Surrounding roads leading to CP will remain closed from 8 PM until late night.

Strict Checks and Woman Safety

To prevent drunk driving, teams of doctors will conduct breathalyzer checks at checkpoints.
Special foot patrols will monitor women’s safety in busy areas.
People causing disorder or driving under the influence will face legal action.

Security at Other Major Spots

Khan Market, India Gate, C-Hexagon, Kartavya Path, and five-star hotels like The Lalit, Imperial, The Park, Royal Plaza, Shangri-La, Le Meridien, Taj Mahal, Ashoka, Samrat, and ITC Maurya will also have enhanced security measures.

Mandi House, Bengali Market, Ranjit Singh Flyover, Minto Road-DDU Marg Crossing, Munje Chowk, RK Ashram Marg-Chitragupt Marg Crossing, Gole Market, GPO Roundabout, Patel Chowk, KG Road-Feroz Shah Road Crossing, Jaisingh Road-Bangla Sahib Lane, and Windsor Place.

Delhi Police urges all citizens to follow the guidelines, carry valid passes for entry, avoid drunk driving, and celebrate the New Year responsibly.
