No License, No Party: Ghaziabad Police Target 192 Illegal OYO Lodges in Pre-New Year Drive

The Ghaziabad Police sealed 192 OYO hotels and lodges in rural, Trans Hindon, and city areas ahead of New Year's Eve. In the checks done on 390 hotels, 192 were found running without valid licenses under the Sarai Act. The act obligates hotel owners to obtain proper permissions for their lawful operation.
Massive checks and sealing operations
City Region: Police raided 122 hotels, of which 56 were sealed for not having licenses.
Trans Hindon: Out of 160 hotels inspected, 82 were sealed for operating without licenses.
Rural Belt: Police checked 108 establishments and sealed 54 for not having licenses.
Reason for the Crackdown
Police in the region are reportedly preparing to prevent unlawful meetings in the run-up to New Year festivities; the authorities fear that unlicensed hotels may flare up and create chaos or criminal incidents. Such incidents in unlicensed accommodations earlier led to officials imposing harsh measures to ensure safety of the public and restore law and order.
