Air India Pilot Srishti Tuli, Found Dead in Mumbai, Boyfriend Arrested in Suicide Case

Srishti Tuli, a 25-year-old Air India pilot, was found dead in her Andheri flat in Mumbai. Police arrested her boyfriend in connection with the suspected suicide.

The case of a 25-year-old Air India pilot, Srishti Tuli, is believed to have died by suicide in her Mumbai flat on Monday, with an investigation under way into her boyfriend's role in the incident. The body of the young woman was found in her rented apartment at the Kanakia Rainforest building in Marol, Andheri. Police reported that she was found hanging with a data cable in the early hours of the day.

Her boyfriend, Aditya Pandit, aged 27, has been arrested and charged with abetment of suicide under Section 108 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He was subsequently remanded to police custody until November 29. The arrest follows an accusation from Tuli’s uncle, who alleged that Pandit had been harassing and emotionally abusing her for some time. The complaint also pointed out that Pandit had been pressuring Tuli to refrain from eating non-vegetarian food, and this further put a strain on their relationship.

Tuli was from Uttar Pradesh and had been staying in Mumbai since June 2023. She had first met Pandit when they were undergoing a commercial pilot course in Delhi two years back. They eventually started dating. The couple had reportedly experienced emotional trauma, according to reports. The police have initiated a probe into the circumstances leading to Tuli’s tragic death, including questioning Pandit and other individuals close to the victim. Authorities are also examining the relationship dynamics and any potential signs of coercion or manipulation. The case not only raises questions about mental health issues amongst young professionals but also those that require pressure in careers like aviation, for which authorities are trying to establish the exact factors responsible for this tragic incident.
