Maharashtra Elections 2024: Manoj Jarange Withdraws All Candidates from All 25 Seats
In the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024, today is the last day for withdrawal of nominations. A shocker has come in that Maratha reservation movement leader Manoj Jarange Patil has directed all his candidates to withdraw from the election race. He did so after Jarange announced candidates for 15 out of 25 seats and was to decide on the remaining 10, declaring that he no longer wants his candidates to contest.
Maratha Leader Jarange Withdraws from Maharashtra elections 2024
Jarange, speaking with the media during a briefing this morning, insisted on the elections that took place along caste lines to say he was opposed to these, did not stand any chance in one particular group, and came out saying they should not contest to make sure their failure doesn't contribute to defeating the goal of the Maratha stir. "Winning the election is not possible, so we have collectively decided not to participate. We do not have their support at this time, and they are too powerful political parties," he said.
Politically, analysts have already begun speculating how Jarange's decision may go. It is anybody's game as to whether it benefits the BJP or NCP. Meanwhile, BJP and Congress parties are busy attempting to make the rebel candidates withdraw their nomination as well.

The position adopted by Jarange is strategic withdrawal in order to save the dignity of the movement and to prevent electoral losses that may hit the Maratha community pretty badly. His decision, therefore, speaks volumes for the intricacies involved in trying to balance social movements with electoral politics.
