Bomb Scare Grounds Air India Flight in Thiruvananthapuram: Emergency Declared, Passengers Evacuated

New Delhi: An Air India flight traveling from Mumbai to Thiruvananthapuram was placed in an isolation bay at Thiruvananthapuram Airport after a bomb threat was reported. The threat prompted airport authorities to declare a full emergency, according to sources cited by the news agency PTI.
The bomb threat was reportedly communicated by the pilot as the aircraft, carrying 135 passengers, approached Thiruvananthapuram Airport. The aircraft, identified as AI 657, reported the bomb threat at 7:30 AM on August 22, 2024. In response, a full emergency was declared at the airport at 7:36 AM.
The aircraft landed safely and was immediately directed to the isolation bay, where an evacuation process was initiated. Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life have been reported. According to a statement from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, "The aircraft is now parked at the Isolation Bay, where the evacuation process has begun. There has been no impact on life. Airport operations are currently uninterrupted."
As of now, the origin of the bomb threat remains unclear, and authorities are investigating the situation further. Despite the emergency, airport operations continue without disruption.
